Description and condition: Red cloth hardback, dustcover, 8vo, 84pp. Good to very good, light cover wear, bookplate on FFEP, else nice bright clean pages. Dustcover is worn with smaller tears and small loss, now protected.
Contents: Competently written, and with a wealth of evidence to support the author's conclusions, this work can be expected nevertheless to arouse controversy among scholars interested in the authorship of the plays attributed to Shakespeare, for Mr. Field is at variance with many of the accepted aspects of the poet's life and plays. Included are letters, poems, and memories revealed in an exceedingly scarce book published in the early part of the last century and purporting to be those of Shakespeare himself. Publishers letter to the Gloucestershire Echo loosely laid in. |
