Hansard is the name given to the official verbatim report of the Proceedings of Parliament both in the House of Lords and in the Commons. Between 1803 and 1900 there had been approximately 1,300 volumes containing about one billion words. The authors have compiled a collection of some of the wit, wisdom, nonsense and information spoken. With index to Members of Parliament whose contributions have been used.
