Description and condition:

Decorated boards hardback with dustcover, 8 1/4 by 11 1/2 inch (4to), 37 pp. of text, 4 colour plates, 118 b/w plates.
Former owners numerical notation - possibly private library number - on the half-title and title page. Light edgewear and uneven browning to the endpapers, otherwise very good. Light chipping to dustcover, now protected. All paintings beautifully preserved.

Translated from the original Polish by Witold Ostrowski. Monograph on Bernardo Bellotto (1720-1780), called Canalleto the younger, a court painter for the King of Poland Stanislaus II Augustus Poniatowski. His paintings recorded the features of Warsaw, architecture, street scenes, and Polish society.
